A blast from the past. On this one, I let the foam stick out the front end for a little more buoyancy.

hook - WFC Model 11 #12
thread - Uni 8/0 tan
body - 3mm foam tan
underwing - Congo Hair Baitfish Grey
collar/wing - pronghorn hair
head - 3mm foam tan

Regards,
Scott

@TomButler just got some deer hair and tried out your muddled hares ear

I missed that along the line, that looks great. I'll be curious how the hot tail works out. After a lot of testing I found a nice bunch of hares ears works better than feathers or coq de leon. Really moves like a fish tail in the water.

I'm curious about the hot tail too. I put it in because I'm planning on fishing it this winter and usually hot spot things work best. I think it will fish quite nicely! Thanks for the inspiration.

My first attempt at a Bulkhead Deceiver-ish fly. I wouldn't say it was a failure, but I won't say it's good. I've been wanting to try tying these for awhile but was too intimidated and just kept putting it off. Somehow it feels too dense and not dense enough at the same time. I think my bundles of bucktail were thicker at the tail than the head and it doesn't feel like it has much tear drop taper. Need to dive back into Fleye Design
I have a lot of work to do, but excited to keep trying.

Would love any and all critiques.
EDIT: Once wet, it's not terrible. It lays down relatively fine. Room to grow!

I’d fish that
If you’re interested check out Gunnar Brammer and his buck tail deceiver video
It exactly what you are doing
