NFR Has anyone heard from Old Man Jim? Update: RIP OMJ. Give ‘em hell wherever you are!

I usually keep my comments pretty neutral but one of my questions was stupid enough to finally get a smart ass response from Jim. I had to smile and felt like I had stepped through a rite of passage.
Hopefully the daughter might get to know a little bit about her father through his history on forums. I'm sure one of our talented writers could come up with quite a forum related bio on Jim's life that would be entertaining as hell to read.
Hopefully his spirit is checking out a small stream for risers.

Very sorry to hear of this. He was the ultimate "get off my lawn" character, something I aspire to. He is, and will be missed. I'm sure he'll find the best skinny water on the other side. Rest in peace Mr. Jim.

Sorry to hear that Old Man has died. Have a massive regret. In 2003 I created a spey fly called the Old Lawless in honor of Old Man and Bob Lawless, two of the characters of the old Washington fly fishing site. It's a complicated married wing tie. Old Man reached out to me last year and asked me to send him a copy. It was on my todo list but I never got it to him before he died. Looks like WA fly fishing took down the picture.

I feel like I should point out that Old Man Jim had views on atlases and told me when I moved here: "What you really need is a good map of Washington. The Delorme is a good atlas, but I like the one put out by Benchmark."

I PMd with Jim about skinny waters back in the day and as a thank you I offered to send him some flies. He wanted some small royal wulffs so I tied him some and sent them. I got started and realized I suck at wulff wings so made them parachutes. He said he liked how I tied them and I took that as high praise.
I appreciate you, Jim, and will miss your postings, even though we never met in person.

A long time ago on the old site, I started a small stream chat group and Jim was a key contributor. He selflessly shortcut my learning curve by years and gave me a model to follow when interacting with other anglers.
