You Know Summer is Coming When...

The frogs stop croaking in mass.
The swallows come out during the bug hatches.
The very dumb stockers are leaping out of the water.
The goose goslings are at that very ugly stage of growing.
The grass grows two or three times as fast as you want to cut it.
The cottonwoods are providing their seed storms.
Fish are healthy, hungry, and aggressive.
The weather - wait 10 minutes and it will change
Eagles are catching fish.

One of my favorite times of the year...

I like when the pumkinseeds start making their circular redds in the shallows of the lake. They are just starting on that near me now.

Saw an osprey at the beach today. They’re back.

And AK bows on swung flies.

Red-wing black birds are making their nests in the cat tails. Such pretty birds.

Fortunately, no cormorants this year.

Mallard duckings were spotted today.

Flickers and Robins are making or sitting on their nests.

Saw 2 black tailed bucks with 6" spikes today.

I luv nature at its finest.

This is a great time to show your kids what is happening. Perk their interest in nature. It will pay future dividends. Something we all need....

All of the above, except cottonwood seed and other pollen storms. I have enough year around allergies as it is!
