NFR World Cup

Watched the first half. Thought US was a better team based upon the number smokers BiH normally has.
After seeing the replay of Balogun’s red card call it looked like tangled legs to me. Iffy at best.
Was forced to go the mute route at the 20 minute mark as the blathering announcers decided they were the show. Belgium/Senegal was much easier to listen to.
Fox should replace at least two of the idiot in house muttering gerbils. Lolass has a high regard for himself.

Moving right along has anyone heard that over 120% of the US is under a heat wave that could effect at minimum 2 billion people, possibly more?

Another thing that needs to be said is Malik Tillman’s free kick was Kwah-Luh-Tee!

It looked to me like if the BIH defender whose head that brilliant shot looped over had jumped even a little bit upon Tillman making contact with the ball, he could have deflected it, but he just stands there and flinches a bit while his teammates jump uselessly.
It’s not an easy thing to get a shot up and down like that with power, and this one had room to spare. Great shot.

Hadn't heard, was it in the soccer broadcast? What kind of idiot would promote nonsense like this?

Agreed, that kick was incredible!

I think he would have got away with it if he had been going for the ball, but he wasn’t anywhere near it. That elevates it from an ordinary foul to something that gets a card.

I am disappointed that there have not been more cards for diving. There was one in the first game and then nothing. The ref in the England game made it clear that he thought Harry Kane dived - so why didn’t Kane get a yellow? It won’t ever stop if there are no consequences.
Have you ever reffed? Not going for the ball? Both players are moving to the ball. Balo is clearly looking at the ball and attempting to play it. Yes there was contact and in super slow motion and still shots (NOT what VAR is supposed to do) ,make it look much worse than real time. Ok fine. Call the foul and issue a yellow after the review. No way that should ever be red.

I was impressed with the performance, especially as they seemed to control most all the action even with 10 guys.

Baloguns absence will hurt. Our men have been great when pressing less talented squads. They have have won a lot of balls back using the talent advantage in the midfield. I don't see them being able to defend the same way vs. Belgium. Tielemans,Onana and De bruyne are excellent.

The center halfs have been shaky in the limitted times they have been pressured. They are small. Belgium will score. De Bruyne strikes the ball like 1991Freddie Couples. He will be searching for whichever 6'3"+ striker is playing. Our men will need to score to win and Balogun has been our best scoring weapon.

Lalas is embarrasing. Zlatan seems insulted to have to listen to him. Henry gives him very little respect. Holden is also difficult to listen to. In a sport where there are some tremendous broadcasters Fox is failing by relying on failed USMNT retirees. The team improved when they jettisoned the failed US born leadersship and hired a qualified European coach. I wish the broadast was handled similarly.

Just switch to Telemundo (free over-the-air) or Peacock (included for free in some Internet providers), it's in Spanish but any language is better than what is going on at FOX...

Telemundo and Peacock have NO advertisements, no interruptions, even during the horrid/ad$ riddled hydration break$ they stay on the pitch, they get it. The commentary is more nuanced, less biased and more balanced focus and views not only from the US side but international (including US) former coaches, players, etc such as José Pékerman, Jorge Valdano, Gabriel Batistuta, Dunga, Roque Santa Cruz, Andrés Guardado, Carlos Salcido, Alejandro Bedoya, Jozy Altidore, Iván Zamorano, Guti, Diego Lugano, Iván Ramiro Córdoba, Antonio Valencia, Nuno Gomes, Maxi Rodríguez, Carlos Pavón, Julio César Dely Valdés.

As of today, about half of the World Cup viewership is on Spanish coverage, even when less than 20% of the US population speaks Spanish.

Yes. A lot.
I saw a post that showed 7 videos of other players doing the exact same thing, in this world cup. None got red cards, including Messi. I think two got yellow cards. Doesn't mean it was the wrong call, but if theyre trying to be consistent, its evidence they've failed at that.

That’s because they say ‘Goal!’ For at least 28 seconds…
