I learned that the idea was to "bounce" the plastic lip off of structure such as tree stumps or rocks. For some reason this "bouncing" makes LMB strike. Simply cranking the lure through the water is far, far less effective. Crank bait fishing can be addictive, and carpel tunnel issues to the wrist is a legitimate concern. This is not a joke.... obsessively casting and cranking a bait caster from sun up to sun down can do serious harm to the wrist joints.
What kind of patterns can we chuck that will roughly approximate a crank bait the gear fishing folks use?
