Pike is good eats. Most of the First Nation guides in Canada prefer pike to walleye.I once caught a good sized pike and my Mom made quenelle, a classic French dish with pike meat. It was not good, at all. Escoffier be damned. Heresy to gourmands but not all things are meant to be eaten, and be I like offal, thereβs worse like puke and most likely Caprsβ¦but I am intrigued by the roe, never met any I did not like. In the UK we would fry codβs roe which looked just like the stuff there. Granular as opposed to bigger βbeadsβ re Salmon or caviar.

Passing on the agricultural drains too........ pesticides, heavy metals, viruses.....Depends on the water quality where it was caught. A relatively pollution-free lake? Sure, I'd try a bite just out of curiosity - and half expecting to spit it out. The Columbia River? ... I'll pass on the PCBs and radioisotopes.
Ohhhh, gutter grouper. I like that one.Gonna pass on the gutter grouper/sewer salmon...
