What's in your vise?

Just messing around with some fake quills today

To me this don't look right. Looks to me like you need to put down a base color of thread 1st. Does anyone else use these and what do you do?
Either do a light colored thread base and then take a darker colored sharpie on top, then wrap quill.

Or take the sharpie and darken the quill edge before wrapping

A couple more, these are more in the tool fly realm with the 4mm bead, but I also typically only fish unweighted dropped off of this, unless I'm fishing a tag above it...really depends on the water.

Although the #10s work on (comparatively) larger water, tied on a bigger hook and with the barn owl head, these float well and push a bit more water.

hook - WFC Model 21 #6
thread - SemperFli Nano Silk 30d black
tail - pheasant neck feather
rib - small wire gold
body - hare’s ear dyed golden yellow (1 Tbsp Rit Golden Yellow/1 cup water)/Starburst dubbing olive
hackle - ginger
shoulder - pheasant body feather
collar/head - deer hair

Regards,
Scott

A couple euphausiids and amphipods to fish slow on a floater for searun cutts now that the small winter game has begun.

XS metal bead chain
Size 4 SC 15. Will tie some 6’s as well.
SC 15’s run really small.

Back of a yellow note pad. It’s what was handy. 😉
