This and olive squirrel fir in a dubbing loop. And to answer the next question, I tie mine smaller than yours on this hook. Looking forward to trying the green ones. Last summer, @RichS and I landed a Columbia River walleye that was full of green crayfish up to 4 inches as I recall. No idea why the walleye wanted to eat a worm.

I just look at his ties and sigh...my flies look like they've been chewed on before they leave the vise

I think it was Charlie Brooks who said of his "tied in the round" stonefly pattern: "If it looks too neat when you get to the river, drop it on the ground and grind it under your heel before tying it on."

I’ve tied 8 SRC flies this week. All fry imitations. All different and assuming the fish are found, all will work. What I love about SRC fly tying….though it doesn’t hurt, you don’t have to be a great tier (which benefits me quite a bit!). You also don’t have to be bored tying the same pattern over and over. So many things will work.

I love those! Have you tried tying and fishing them small, like size 14? That works great (sometimes).
