That would definitely be an option.
One thing I thought would work well to imitate a marine worm is the type of chenille on this jig but in a larger diameter, but I've never seen it for sale anywhere. You could cut the hackle off the top and bottom to make the remaining hackle look like the feelers or legs on the sides of natures. I've made some myself, but it never looked as good.
Anyone ever seen this chenille for sale?

Haven’t tied many Rogue style flies in a while because I was never thrilled with building the body on a needle, sliding it off and then mounting it on the hook. Tried it using the Carnage core and underbody and it came out okay; more of a pain to tie but it does create a neat segmented body.

hook - WFC Model 16 #6
thread - Uni 6/0 camel
core - 14lb mono
underbody- elk hair
body - 2mm foam tan
wing - Congo Hair shiner tan
shoulder - pheasant rump
collar/hackle - deer hair

It looks like people make it by hand to copy the "Hawkin Aerojig feather jig," using two stands of small chenille like a dubbing loop with a hackle feather wound up in it:

Still fine tuning my fry pattern…

Hook: Ahrex NS110 #8
Thread: clear mono
Tail: Polar Flash
Body: shrimp pink flat braid
Wing: tan EP fibers + baitfish Angel Hair
Collar: trimmed butt ends of olive Kraft Fur, teased into a skein and dubbed directly onto the thread, then picked and brushed out.
Eyes: Fish Skull Living Eyes
Stripes: black Copic marker

Gluing the eyes to the collar took some doing, I ended up using a drop of flexible Solarez on the fur, then applying an eye to that. I was able to use my UV laser pointer to blast some UV rays into the fur, behind the eye, to cure it. Then once both eyes were secure, I back-filled with regular thin Solarez and cured that. It seems solid but we’ll see how it holds up fishing.IMG_5708.jpeg

I like the look of the KF collar but want to see if I can improve on it. Maybe try spinning KF tips in a dubbing loop and wrapping that.

Haven’t tied one of these in a while; the hook seemed tiny.

hook - WFC Model 6 #10
thread - SemperFli 8/0 brown
tail - deer hair spun
rib - small wire gold
body - Ice Dub hare’s ear
hackle - ginger
shoulder - pheasant body feather
collar/hackle - deer hair

I just tried a simpler version of the technique above. I pinched one end of a length of "FNF Creeper" in prawn color in my vise, wound it up tight with my fingers, and let it double back on itself. It might make a nice marine worm with a little more work (and maybe a trailing hook). @Stonedfish , how would you finish this fly? Pink rabbit in a dubbing loop on the shank?

Zak,
I like it. Bunny would work up front or you could just palmer some more creeper over the tie in area.
Maybe ever tie the hook in at the middle like a San Juan worm.

In these colors it could be a hopper or nocturnal stonefly.

thread - UTC 140 brown
core — 30lb mono
body - 2mm foam tan
wing - Congo Hair shiner tan
collar/head - deer hair
legs - medium round rubber brown
indicator - 1mm foam orange
