Threw together something to hold up weight that still looks buggy as hell....the thick foam is lots of fun to work with...:rolleyes:

dubbing is kraken dubbing from FTD. super buggy looking stuff with micro legs in it.

Antennae: black rubber leg
pinchers: rust squirrel strips
body: simiseal
legs: silicone crawdad color
Weight: small tungsten eyes on top of the hook shank
shellback: brush all fibers on top of the fly to the sides and hold down out of the way - UV epoxy

Been away from the vise for over 2 weeks so I started with something familiar. Missing a third light so the pics are a bit darker than usual.

hook - WFC Model 3
thread - Veevus 8/0 tan
tail- Congo Hair Shiner Tan
rib - small wire copper
body - Starburst dubbing tan
body hackle - ginger
shoulder - pheasant rump
collar/head - pronghorn

Really leaning into the "small" bugs eh?
 
I've had really good success with this pattern, in Olive, in Central Washington. Heading to the Green River in May, and the guide service said they liked Ginger for streamer colors. So, tied this pattern up in a tannish/ginger/brown. This is more of a sculpin pattern, not sure that is the intended forage to imitate, but I figured what the heck. Homemade dubbing brush for the head.

Wing case and wing - White razor foam

Thorax - UV Dun color ice dubbing

I had no razor foam, so I used the thinnest foam I had. Fish won't care!
