What Waders?

The pair of wader gaiters I have was from Esoteric Tackle in Great Britain, now discontinued. They are smaller; somewhere between Little Presents Large and King but at at £50 shipped were half the price of the LPs back in 2019 and have worked quite well. In 5 years they've gotten a lot of use and have saved me from serious injury twice when stumbling into beaver punji sticks hidden in chest high grass, plus countless scrapes from crawling over logs and boulders... I've had Mrs Brian do some minor repairs on her industrial sewing machine and though they are showing their age, are still working very well.

I didn't know I could get LPs on Amazon US! At that price some Little Presents are on the way! 🥳

The ones that I saw and ordered are shipping from Amazon Japan but shipping was free. Hopefully there won’t be any problems with the order or any other associated fees involved.

I found the same item. 👍 T-anglers are setting up accounts on Amazon.jp and not having a problem. Amazon US doesn't have the selection but we'll see how it goes.🤞

The Little Presents wader gaiters were delivered today, a week earlier than promised. 🥳
As expected they are longer and wider than the discontinued British Esoteric gaiters.
They wrap all the way around over my waders with an overlap from the ankle to mid thigh. The Esoteric gaiters had small gaps over waders so the LPs will be warmer for wet wading. 🥳
The hook & loop loop fabric on the gaiters creates an absolutely tenacious grip for the hook straps 👍.
With the extra length, slippage on slick waders fabric could be reduced, that really didn't happen often with the Esoteric gaiters. 👍
I needed Mrs Brian to replace the Esoteric gaiters' well-worn hook straps.
The LPs' 100% neoprene fabric won't be as resistant to catching thorns and seed pod burrs as the Esoteric Cordura covered knee & shin pads. 😐
The are no shin pads on the LPs, Shimano, or Daiwa brand gaiters, probably because Japanese Wet Wading Tights have shin pads.
A recent problem is preventing me from getting out to fish and I won't be able to really test them out for a few weeks

Anyone tried sitka waders? Made for waterfowl hunting but I've got a bead on a good deal for them and am curious.

No, but my current pataguccis have an integrated knee and shin pad like those do, and I LOVE that feature. As a frequent bank maggot I find myself kneeling down on rocks a decent amount and those pads sure are nice. I also took a nasty spill onto jagged rocks recently that I am pretty sure would've ripped a hole in the knee without that pad there. Might've hurt a hell of a lot more, too. As it was it held fine for the day and I just hit it with some aquaseal when I got home to prevent it from getting any worse.

I ended up going all the way and getting the patagucci's zippered expedition waders. I noticed them on folks who fish a lot and they really like them. I'm sure the new non-pfas line they are coming out with next year will be excellent, but I also am leery of 1st gen tech, so I took the closeout opportunity. The price was still painful, but it was like if I bought a non-zip pair of simms or pata full price.

Take a look at Aquaz. I have the zip ups and have been impressed with their toughness and durability. They’re very well made.
They are not well known, but apparently make waders for other well known brands.

Thanks for the heads up! Looks a lot like the Redington HDZ. I love those.
