What the heck are these for?

So I have really enjoyed my Outcast Cruzer tube, have had it a couple months and used it at least 20 or so times. For the life of me I can not figure out what these padded loop type things are for. They are too large to be any type of useful cup holder. Water bottles, soda or beer cans, even large coffee mugs just flop around or slide right out. I have stuffed a shirt though one after removing a layer, but it got in the way and fairly wet after a few minutes of fishing. Anyone have any thoughts on their purpose?

For lifting the tube when you stand up while in it? And possibly waddling around a bit with it that way?

My guess would be it is a cup holder.
Time to super size up to some 40 oz adult beverages and hope you have zipper waders. ;)

I just today discovered that these large flap things can also be used as a rod holder. I can fit my extra rod in there easily on my non-casting side and they seem to work well. Not sure if that was their initial intention or not, but it works!

I usually have my net on/over the left pocket, so I put the reel in the unzipped mesh pocket on the right (casting side), then lay it across to an inflation valve (also a leash on it).. Stays put and out of the way. I don't think I've used the "cupholders" yet.
