Well, only 2nd time out and I lost all power to the ignition, motor & power trim. I was having a great time casting for imaginary muskies on Tapps when I fired up the motor, but then realized it was still mostly out of the water so I hit the trim down while also turning off the key. No clue why that combo would kill anything, but it sure did. Accessories like horn, bilge, live well pump and light switch still work, but main motor, trim and all dash gauges dead. The good news is I had 2 mostly charged batteries and a bow mount troller. Trolled all the way in.
Including up to the dock. Never done that before!

It seems like a short or blown fuse to me so looks like I get to chase some wires before the next outing.
Anyone ever lose all power like that?
The internet helped me out big-time. The motor was mostly trimmed down, but luckily not too far down to take the boat out. But too low for my comfort towing back to home.
After I pulled the boat out and had it all ready to go home I Googled "is there a way to trim up the outboard with no power?" right there in the parking lot. First hit was a nice ranger guy showing exactly how to do it. Then I got to borrow a flat-head screw driver from a nice stranger and lift more than I've lifted for a WHILE. It worked! And I didn't hurt my back.
Here you go-
