I played the heck out of the first Baldur's Gate games, Icewind Dale and, before personal computers, Dungeons and Dragons. I got tired of keeping my computer cutting edge enough to play the latest games, so switched to Xbox consoles some years ago. Sadly for me, BG3 has not released on Xbox.Ugh, same! When I can anyway.
Two incredible releases in the last month when I'm already super distracted by fishing makes it tough lol
I love BG3 and think in many ways it's the "better" game, but I haven't touched it since Starfield early access. I'll get back to it here at some point, but dang Starfield is a lot of fun and has sucked up my minimal gaming time since the early release drop.

Checking back to this, I completed BG3 with a bunch of different characters since it came out on Xbox. I loved it.Funny enough I'm the polar opposite. I've been a console guy all my life with the exception of some early MS Dos, boot disk making days way back when.
It wasn't until this summer that I shifted to PC. Specifically in preparation for the future release of the sequel to my all time favorite game State of Decay 2, but also because there are just so many cool games that are right up my alley only available on PC. Plus many of the styles of games I like to play, particularly survival crafting and RPG, are just so much better suited to a mouse and keyboard.
I've read that Lorian is planning an Xbox release of BG3 somewhere over this coming winter, so you won't have to wait too long if you want to check it out. It's truly a remarkable game. I did read that the PS release last week was kind of a hot mess with tons of bugs so hopefully that's all ironed out by the time of the Xbox release.
Going full-on nerd here.
Been meaning to post this for a while. Game is overall no secret since it literally blew all previous records out of the water for most game awards won for 2025.
I'm currently doing all the endgame side quests and superbosses in Expedition 33. Been a VERY long time since a game has captivated me like this one. It's a high I've been chasing since first playing the original Final Fantasy 7 back in the late 90s. Just takes storytelling and presentation to a whole new level. Has an incredible amount of love put into it by the devs who were a small, independent team, which is such a massive contrast to all the corporate stuff cranked out these days.
The battle system combines all my favorite combat things into one: Souls-like combat with dodging, parrying, and precise timing in a turn based format. So satisfying, and one of the best battle systems, both real-time or turn-based, I've ever experienced.
Just an incredible piece of art and one of the best stories I've experienced. 11/10, do recommend.
Stories that take 50-80hrs of immersion to tell are often very difficult to make an effective trailer for.OK, I watched the trailer. Does less than zero for me. Apparently I don't "get it."
Expedition 33 is the first time I felt compelled to even think about doing a completionist run. A few of the superbosses have me rethinking that. Usually I'm the type to just do the side quests and extras I feel compelled to or stumble upon and focus on the story.I'm almost finished with a completionist run of Outer Worlds 2.
On that note: I'm very much a Playstation guy. Most my gaming happens on the PS5. But I have had a SteamDeck (actually on my second one) for a few years and love it. I use it mostly for my more retro or retro-ish RPG games. I can take it on trips, use it on my couch, or even hook it up and use a controller like a console on my TV. You can run games out of Steam, Epic, or any number of emulators you are savvy enough to set up.Funny enough I'm the polar opposite. I've been a console guy all my life with the exception of some early MS Dos, boot disk making days way back when.
