What are you playing?

I remember there was a gaming thread, on the old site. I didn’t contribute, because I hadn’t played games in years. I bought a Steam Deck recently and have entered a gaming renaissance; it has enabled me to get in a few minutes here and there, between changing diapers and getting chewed out by the love of my life.

Anywho... Anyone gaming, these days? I’ve been playing the Quake 2 remaster and it is amazing. They added a compass that tells you where to go, which has made the game so much more enjoyable; I always used to get stuck, frustrated and quit.

Also…

I’ve mostly seen negative sentiment around that game. What are your thoughts?

I played through Diablo 3 once, many years ago, and liked it. My wife and I even played it together, for a little while. She liked collecting all the money. She would risk dying for one coin. Classic dragon lady.
I love the Diablo series. I played I and II on PC back in high school and III on Xbox over the last few years. I just enjoy button mashing dungeon crawlers (Path of Exile is my 2nd fave).

I actually think IV is better than III in that it feels like a reversion to the first 2. Diablo III feels very much felt built for consoles with a more linear path and limited user modifications. Diablo IV is more open world with a lot of customization options, especially with the skill trees, which is reminiscent of the PC games. III was better for more casual gameplay (why my wife likes III better, she never played the first 2) while IV is for those that like to get nerdy with it (why I like IV better). The overall aesthetic is darker and the gore is intense.

Up until about 5 years ago, I played a lot of Battlfield/Bad Company, and IL2 (WWII flight simulator) on PC. I've been considering getting a switch and getting the fun/all ages type games so my kid and I can play.

Modern Warfare 2, and planning a new PC build for Christmas. I am in a stooge group every Wednesday nights.

Dinky online computer games. Solitaire is first thing when I get up having coffee. Am up to level 93 with the random deck, don't always win which makes it challenging. Then Mahjong...usually win, lowest is under 4 minutes.

I seldom play games of any kind, so maybe that's why I haven't tried playing games on computer. It seems like reading and posting on internet forums is more than enough of a time suck as it is. I'd hate to be investing even more time playing some computer game.

Starfield😎

Ugh, same! When I can anyway.

Two incredible releases in the last month when I'm already super distracted by fishing makes it tough lol

I love BG3 and think in many ways it's the "better" game, but I haven't touched it since Starfield early access. I'll get back to it here at some point, but dang Starfield is a lot of fun and has sucked up my minimal gaming time since the early release drop.
