More "happy" toe-tappin' Western Swing from a fine Texas band.


The hook of this song supposedly originated with Texas football coach Darrell Royal who led the Longhorns to three national championships and 11 Southwest Conference titles while finishing ranked in fifteen seasons.
The meaning was sticking with the players, strategies, or people that brought you success, loyalty, and victories.

He wouldn't like the NIL era.

I have attended a number of concert band performances and even played in a few. This is the first time I've seen legato (slurring) clarinet articulation (and doubled?) using just the instrument mouthpiece and barrel sections as played in the intro soli section that's commonly heard from Irish flutes, pennywhistles, and fiddles in Celtic music. Cool piece, Great Band! 😎

Looked to me like they were using a finger in the barrel to control pitch.
Sorta like manual fly reel drag…sorta.
