What are you listening to?

The current release from ancient instrumental prog warriors Agitation Free,  Momentum. Am now currently listening to song  Shibuya which has some seriously mic'd-up tribal drums. Not awesome, but pretty damn close.👍👍

A lot of Christmas music being played in our house 🎅
Ths Christmas Song features the relatively unknown but outstanding guitar work of Oscar Moore who was with the Nat King Cole Trio from 1937-1947, leaving the band apparently after Cole’s wife "convinced him to pay the other two members as sidemen instead of splitting the money evenly, as they’d been doing", and "opted for simpler pop vocal songs and lush string arrangements over the signature drummer-less jazz trio sound he had established in the ’40s"

Afterwards Moore played R&B from 1947 to ’54 with his brother, guitarist Johnny Moore and recorded sessions as a leader and as a sideman throughout the 1950s, but unfortunately "The Christmas Song" recording in 1946 was the commercial highwater mark of Moore's career.
I played guitar in large Christmas production orchestras for more than twenty years and the directors always let me add Oscar Moore's legato guitar solo ending to any arrangement of The Christmas Song, or another song in the shows where it fit.

Here's some more of Moore's NKC Trio work (starts @ 1:07")

I discovered that the TV service in this snowbird rental has a paid subscription to Pandora: nice! I can still remember the first time I heard this song, my wife and I were heading to Port Angeles. About Discovery Bay we picked up a jazz station out of Victoria:

Such a GREAT song and wonderful album.
