What Are You Eating?

A grilled skirt steak salad. I am so sad as this is what we got from Better Meats in Ballard and it is a different cut than what other stores sell. My wife scored the last 2 lbs and they will sell no more, it costs them too much. It was >$30 a lb, crazy but the best beef cut I’ve ever eaten.

I got some at Ballard market for $15 lb and it was ok but a little tough and some flavor but there’s 2 forms of it, BM are the only place that does it truly right that I know of.

This meat was off the charts, so tender with no tenderizing methods and omg just so succulent. Salt and pepper, quick hot grill and done.

I now I’ll sit and dream of it, just so darned good but now way too much $$$ and also gone 😩

Looks delicious! I actually prefer skirt steak over flank steak, but it hard to find at times!

Me too, there is no equal. Now it will be bavette of hanger which are ok and <1/2 the cost but really not the same in so many respects. I almost salt cure hanger steak to reduce the amount of water it holds and build the flavor…still I can eat and afford things some cannot so will not whine.

I recently read where people eating morels and drinking alcoholic beverages was causing them to get ill. Is there any truth to the combination having this to happen?

Some fried rice! Made the rice yesterday, dried it out on a cookie sheet and placed it in the oven to dry. Didn't turn on the oven, just left it in there all day!View attachment 184082
That looks good but I think rice at room temperature for a long time is a food safety concern. Nobody wants unnecessary GI distress!
