What Are You Eating?

It's shishito. Grown in Japan. They are pretty hard to find. Here in Port Angeles I get them in the produce section in (gasp) Safeway. About one in ten will light you up a bit and you can't tell which one it is. The shiro honey butter does take a little of the edge off but not too much. Blistered in a hot skillet they are a real treat dipped in smooth and creamy lemon hummus. You can thank me later.
Costco often has them.

Been grilling the last two nights…last night, ribeyes, grilled asparagus, roasted sweet potato & heirloom tomato with nectarines…tonight, fuji apples marinated in puréed kimchi over labne/maple syrup, roasted guanciale & arugula, planked halibut, roasted golden beets & couscous

Love that top plate, but gotta ask, why are you cutting that wonderful looking ribeye into strips and only putting about 1/8 of it on the plate (I'll eat the whole thing, the wife leftovers are used for sammies)?

cheers

Breakfast time, in Guanzhou, home of dim-sum apparently. Soup dumpling were good, shui mai were really, really good. Their chilli sauce is nuclear hot and took a a minute to recover. Had some noodles and beef to seal the deal. Not quite up to bacon done well but bloody close and way better than the western breakfast offered there IMG_0139.jpegIMG_0140.jpeg.

True story: while camping a few nights ago my girlfriend and I decided to make beef stroganoff. We bought everything necessary but forgot the mushrooms 🤣. Into the woods we go. Not a lot going on yet where we were except for some melted down/slug tattered russala. Until she found a nice little patch of bone dry rainbow chanterelles.
