Spent a truly enjoyable four days on both big water and small. Hoot owl restrictions had just begun, spent the afternoons testing bourbon and napping. Saw very few other anglers on the water perhaps the smoke in the air had something to do with that, it varied with wind direction. Have floated this section many times over the years, first time I can remember a trailing breeze, made the rowing a “breeze”. With the increasingly thin snow pack each year the window between spring runoff and too warm water (hoot owl) seems to get shorter and shorter. Used to make this trip in mid to late August each year, going to have to move it to late July in the future.
