The state hasn’t stocked triploids in years. What you notice on stocking reports are what they call jumbos. Size of fish when stocked doesn’t dictate whether it’s a tripod or not. It is a process that involves pressure on fertilized egg that creates sterile fish and the most common way to stock triploids are as Fingerlings or catchables. The jumbos are brood stock fish that they have no use for anymore and dump them into lakes. Which is why they are heavily spotted and look in spawn phase. This is an important distinction. The Jumbos they put in the lakes have been pellet fed their entire lives and are nearing the end.
