WDFW Digital license

Hmmm.. I should probably stop carrying magnets 🧲 in my pocket!!

I went digital. I wish there were a way to put the license in my digital wallet. Since I am currently a paper license holder (which doesn't expire for a few days, they don't show me a way to download the new mobile license to my phone. Hopefully, April 1st, that will happen.

So I just bought the digital yesterday. Learn from my mistakes. Do this first!
Download the myWDFW app. I don't see it mentioned in this thread, but it's WAY better for the licensing part than the Fish Washington app.

Also, you should do is associate your WILD ID (on your paper license) to your WDFW account before trying to buy anything on the myWDFW app. I did this on the computer since that was easier. I went ahead and purchased on the computer as well.

Once all that was done then finally downloaded the myWDFW app and it immediately had my stuff. Both the old license that expires on 3/31 and the new one.

The Fish Washington app is very awkward with the license part. For enforcement, definitely use the myWDFW. And highly recommend using the bio login option (thumbprint). Of course, if you're like me, that thumbprint wears off after a long day of fishing and wet hands. So screen shot everything.

Thanks to all of you who went digital early and found the bugs. Next year will go more smoothly.
Honestly I was surprised that I didn't find any bugs. After choosing digital on the WDFW license webpage the steps to complete the purchase and login to the app was as easy as knocking over dominoes. Then I tested for and found no problems accessing my license and punch cards on & offline (airplane mode) but maybe there's a WDFW LEO proximity fuse built in as a surprise.

Thanks for this. I bought a digital license and was trying to make it work with my FishWA app but it was very clunky. I just installed the MyWDFW app and it works fine now (and the MyWDFW app has a handy link to FishWA).

I PREMPTIVEKY approach the game warden types and yell "i ain't payin!!!". That way the expectation is SET. They know i ain't paying for none these "license" type deals. These days its all just goin to shit anyway ahh who cares
WAIT FOR THE SILVER BRACELET'S YOUNG MAN! YOU DO YOU!

I had totally forgotten about this thread and the "choose paper or digital" situation this year when I stopped by a local Ye Old Fishing Shoppe to get a license yesterday. I didn't have much time and the crabby lady at the WDFW computer was cursing about the digital version being awful. So I just got a paper license as I've always done.

That said, I'm not against digital at all and in general, much prefer to store stuff like this on my phone. I'm far more likely to have the phone with me than to have remembered to transfer my paper license from one backpack or floating device to another.

I was just confused about having to make a choice and in a hurry to get somewhere. So I figured I'd stick with what I know.

Bought my digital one this morning. Everything shows up nicely in the mywdfw app which I also installed, not sure if I had to choose catch cards in the shop but I did so far so goo.

Well I wanted to go digital but I guess I failed at multi-tasking because the system made me log on via the web to verify my info and I must have inadvertently at that point marked my status as a paper license holder, even though I wasn't buying anything yet. It seems like once you make that choice it is permanent for the year whether you've bought something or not. Rather than try to reach somebody to verify that the system had failed me (or did I fail the system?) I just went ahead and bought what I need as a paper license holder. It seems like they still want me to print out the Vehicle Access Pass though; I can't tell if they're gonna mail me one or not, but they're also not supplying a digital version to print out.

Now you tell me… but I was able to back door it. I’m all digital now.

@Zak $173 for the license I usually get? (Well, $163 for me because I turn in my catch cards) That’s a massive jump over last year that I wasn’t anticipating.

I might skip the annual pas this year and just get some 3 day passes if the itch gets too bad.

I have two friends that fish here, but are non-resident. Does anyone know how that works for them?
