WDFW Black Friday Lake Stocking Fish Stuffers

This Black Friday, Washington state's lakes have received a fresh infusion of feisty rainbow trout! Here is the list I got via email yesterday:

Chelan County: Roses Lake - 25,000 trout Clark County: Battleground - 2,000 trout; Klineline - 2,000 trout Cowlitz County: Kress Lake - 2,000 trout Island County: Cranberry Lake - 4,000 trout King County: Beaver Lake - 2,500 trout; Green Lake - 4,500 trout Klickitat County: Rowland Lake - 2,000 trout Lewis County: Fort Borst Park Pond - 2,000 trout; South Lewis County Park Pond - 2,000 trout Pacific County: Cases Pond - 900 trout Pierce County: American Lake - 2,000 trout; Tanwax Lake - 1,000 trout Snohomish County: Ballinger Lake - 2,500 trout; Gissburg Ponds - 1,500 trout; Silver Lake - 2,500 trout; Tye Lake - 2,000 trout Thurston County: Black Lake - 3,000 trout; Long Lake - 1,000 trout; Offutt Lake - 1,000 trout Yakima County: Elton Pond North - 2,000 trout

Looks like most are over a pound a fish. 0.4 fish per pound, 0.8 fish per pound, etc., which is considerably larger than the springtime 3.6 fish per pound type stats that have been the usual fare. Wheee!

Right as Thanksgiving arrives, WDFW is dropping thousands of rainbow trout into area lakes in time for Black Friday fishing.

I got a bunch of the Cranberry Lake bruisers earlier this month (0.4 per pound).

They were fun for a while and tasted fine breaded and fried.

Forgot to try the crushed Cheetos breading that someone suggested….guess I’ll havta go again

edit: my bad….they were the 0.8/pounders from the end of October…
