WA High Country - Lucky Lake

This one was on the calendar months in advance. We waited, we tied, we researched, we tied some more, we fretted over the weather, but finally the day came and we hit the trail!

The climb was rough at times. The trail passes through old burns and shade is hard to come by. Skeeters here are masters of their domain. They wisely don’t waste energy chasing day-hikers rather they wait for the dumbasses trudging up the trail with overnight gear and float tubes. They ate well.

We enjoyed a mix of weather, from full hot sun to black clouds that seemed ready to burst. Night temps were perfect for sleeping.

Lots of cutts were found and in all areas of the lake. They were taking a variety of flies which really keeps it fun and interesting.
