USPS inefficiency with a simple shipment

I got the same piece of mail with the incorrect address three times in the last ten days.
First time I put a sticky on it with “wrong address”.
Second time I paper clipped a note stating the address was wrong (SW vs NW) and the zip code was wrong. I also noted the person it was addressed to didn’t live at my address.
Received it again on Thursday and happened to be outside when the mailman showed up on Friday
Explained the situation to him. He took a sharpie and blacked out the bar code on the back. I bet I would have gotten it a fourth time if I hadn’t spoke with him. That piece of mail was trapped in a vicious cycle. Hopefully the guy in Burien receives it soon. 😂

I jinxed myself. The sharpie didn’t work. Received the same piece of mail again today for the fourth time. 😂

Is there a bar code on it ? Line thru that with your sharpie.
When we get that problem, we've also lined thru the address with a ball point. Only had 1 come back

The mailman put a line through the barcode on both the front and the back with a black sharpie as you can see. That didn’t solve the problem as they just added a new barcode.
I think at this point I’ll put this mail piece in an envelope and send it like a new piece of mail…..but without a return address on it. 😂
I’d say they lost money on this one!

Ok, finally got my new phone case from BIG OTTER. Nine days from Colorado. Multiple trips between Spokane and Yakima with three days spent in the latter. Seems inefficient to me.

This may be the most Boomerific thread on the BB at present.

I get so many packages from all different services, many of whom contract with USPS both carrying USPS and having USPS carry/ deliver for them. It's remarkable how few issues that I have.

Big Boomer at it again!

These days its all just guys throwing boxes AT THE HOUSES. They just drive by the THROW the boxes at the house!!! Talkin post man guy, Mail guys, delivery box guys, and whatnot. Talkin UPS!!! TALKIN FEDEX!!! these guys just drove by throw boxes at houses. Hit tbe side of the house to WAKE UP the old timers sittin on the couch in there watching JEPORDY!!!!

positive usps. ordered some magnets from a company in pennsylania on 7/14 and received via usps on 7/17, vancouver wa. this is the 2nd or 3rd order, and all have been very fast shipping. the odd thing is their website seems to push towards ups, and even says there could be long delays in a usps shlpment - but i have not seen it, and its the cheapest alternative.

Try ordering custom made flies for a trip, having them arrive at said post office literally 2 miles from my house, only to be sent back to Montana due to “ undeliverable address”….
But wait, there’s more….having said Tibor reel serviced in Florida and arrive in Washington only to be sent back to Florida….oh, the stories I can tell…..

OK, I'll add my own personal boomerific bitch story, but it didn't involve the USPS, but rather FedEx. I've never had a problem with the USPS.

A few years ago I had a custom flytying bench/cabinet made by an old master-craftsman in Missouri. I live in Spokane.

As expected, the work was completed after several months and shipped in four large boxes ......via FedEx. One box arrived in about a week and the other three orbited around the US for several weeks, including one that when through Spokane and then headed back to his cabinet shop in Missouri (I got a jubilant call from FedEx saying they'd found that box and that it was successfully delivered to the recipient (me), but in reality they'd mistakenly sent it back to the Missouri cabinet maker's shop. Idiots.

Eventually the other two boxes showed up at our house, and the very frustrated cabinet maker resent the final box via UPS, and it showed up in less than a week.

I had Fedex tracking numbers for all the boxes and it was simply astounding watching them transit the entire US, visiting the east coast to the west coast and back again several times. Even more so because the delayed boxes all had multiple intact correct destination labels and bar codes.

The final assembled product was gorgeous and a real tribute to the old fellow's craftsmanship (as well as his protective packing skills!).

And don't get me started on REI's use of OnTrac shipping...they are legendary for losing packages and lying about deliveries. If you order anything from REI immediately contact customer service to request a delivery service other than OnTrac...which they'll do because they are obviously as disgusted as their customers about corporate REI's decision to use OnTrac as their default shipping vendor.
