How shameless are the Russians when it comes to justifying their invasion of Ukraine? The Spokesman of Russia's Defense Ministry, Major General Igor Konashenkov, saying US planned to use migratory birds to spread weaponized viruses from Ukraine to Russia.

The Russians are just trolling the Qanons at this point. Nobody is going to believe anything they say, so they're not even trying anymore.

I think the main reason they blatantly lie to the UN and so on, is so they can run the footage on state TV and make people think it is legit. If the Russian populace never see the context, it probably works.

I think another reason is that they're intentionally destroying their own credibility. That enables them to pretend they're open to negotiation. When the west are inevitably forced to do something, Russia can use it as "justification" and play the victim. After all, everything they have said on record indicated that they wanted peace.

FYI, So I've been checking a pretty wide range of news sources in the name of objectivity. A bridge too far was the delusional, non-sensical filth on the official TASS website.

Questionable.

The linked "data" to support that assertion is a statement from two Russian pollsters, mentioned only in passing, by a different news source (no actual data referenced), so I very much doubt its veracity. That said, I don't know any better, and I am reading elsewhere that among older Russians, Putin does have the support of a majority.

Either way, that ANYONE supports him is frankly terrifying....

Hate the thought that I might be spreading "fake" or unverified news, but several lower tier news outlets (which I will not site but are easily found - search Putin sacks generals) are reporting that heads are starting to role in Russia (8 generals), but no major sources are yet reporting it, let's hope it's true, once they feel they might be next, could there be revolt? One can only hope.
 
Russia has always LOVED purges. When Stalin was dying he'd exiled/executed so many physicians there were no specialists to treat him.

These dictatorships (like a great many corporations!) foster and reinforce a culture of yes-men...who always tell the boss what they know he wants to hear. Truthfulness has horrific consequences.

Obviously that's what scares the shit of totalitarian regimes about democracy's 'messiness'.
 
Belarus is being pushed by Putin to send its troops into Ukraine.
Today at the UN security counsel, Russia is accusing the US of having secret chemical and biological weapons labs in Ukraine.
This war is escalating. Biden needs to further increase US military readiness.
