as is the CCP…One thing this does affirm; any nation state pursuaded to give up their nuclear weapons (despite any degree of well-intentioned promises) would be foolish to do so.
North Korea is certainly watching this spectacle.
Maybe his prostatitis and erectile dysfunction have left him irritable. All excellent points made. Is it possible that Putin at 69 years of age wants to make his mark in history? Capitalizing on USA political dysfunction?
His threats are ominous though. Let history not repeats itself. What his is end game? Vladimir the Great?
The idea that there would be any divide on this topic is a sad statement on the state of affairs in the US these days. I’m glad to see there is virtually nothing in the way of sympathy being expressed towards Russia’s actions on this thread, unlike some well known talking heads and pols in this country. It’s damn obvious what’s right and wrong about this situation but I’ll be damned that some people can’t seem to figure that out. My heart goes out to the people of Ukraine and those of you who have personal connections to Ukraine. I can only hope that f$@%wad Putin and the rest of his inner circle eventually catch the Russian flu (or better yet, meet the same fate as Mussolini).you must not have seen the batch of posts I deleted
But really, it's going well. Thanks everyone!
I think the difference is that they embrace and even enforce their isolation. We instead send signals into space saying 'we're great, here we are!'...We are the North Sentinal Island of the universe...
There's certainly no reason to insult the inhabitants of the North Sentinal Island. We are the North Sentinal Island of the universe...
Frankly, I've never been pleased when missionaries show up at my front door either. There's certainly no reason to insult the inhabitants of the North Sentinal Island.
Vlad couldn't get it up, got laughed at by a hooker and invaded a country...Maybe his prostatitis and erectile dysfunction have left him irritable.
Being an old fart myself, and knowing plenty of old farts....I don't know any that aren't cranky about something....and it's rather fortunate that none of us have nuclear weapons.
Plausible. The 2014 invasion of Crimea happened within weeks of his divorce finalizing...Vlad couldn't get it up, got laughed at by a hooker and invaded a country...
In other words, the political and cultural seat of power in Europe transferred from Rome to Constantinople to Kyiv, before migrating West. Moscow was never more than an outpost, lagging behind, struggling to keep pace with its more accomplished neighbors.is the land, wrote English historian Norman Davies, through which most peoples passed on their way to settle the rest of Europe, and to become the nations and countries that we know today.
In the Middle Ages, the Kyivan Rus’ (not Kyivan “Russia”—more below) Imperial Dynasty was the largest political entity in Europe. Following Kyiv’s adoption of Christianity from Byzantium, the precursor of modern Ukraine became a powerhouse of intellectual discourse, religion, and cultural life. In its size, grandeur and advancement of education (mandatory for women), in its equal rights for women, in the arts and the sciences, Kyiv eclipsed other European cities such as Paris and London. European kings and the English monarchy married into the Kyivan Dynasty. Among them, King Henry I of France married Princess Anna of Kyiv; she signed her name to the marriage document, he used an “X”….
“Russia” at that time did not exist, and had as its antecedents Finno-Ugric tribes that separately evolved into scattered principalities in the north that rejected Kyiv’s dominion. Most telling was their sacking and rejection of Kyiv in 1169 that was not matched until the city’s destruction by the Mongol Horde a hundred years later. The Kyivan Rus’ Empire collapsed with the latter onslaught, but in the process shielded the rest of Europe from the same fate.
Looks like my uncles and cousins have been given a draft notice in Zaporozhye Oblast. My uncles are 58, and 56.
God protect them in this terrible time.
