I caught my one and only native grayling with OMJ! He and I would drive all over, well I drove, and he was my talking GPS! Things like "See that trail there? I caught 3 in less than an hour, 20 years ago!"That Ole man took me to a little creek where he could stop at a bridge and fish while I walked to the next bridge.
I won't tell the name of the creek. but the catching was over the top.
One cutt after another and I caught a RB over 18". There were GB's also but I didn't catch any.
Jim also took me to a spot where I caught my first wild Grayling.
We once went over Snoqualmie pass, with no more than 20' visibility. It closed behind us, so did Stevens, didn't matter though we were over and on the way to the Yakima! Got there and it was blowing sustained winds, 20mph to 30mph. Impossible to cast, you could hold the rod up and if the wind was blowing into the water, get a fly out there.. went to Lenore, Lenice, Rocky Ford and looked at Dry Falls.. both Stevens and Snoqualmie Pass were closed.. I picked Stevens and drove that way hoping it would open. We waited a while, and it did and buzzed back home.. One and 1/2 tanks of gas, countless hours driving and maybe 2 hours of fishing time! Still worth it!
