Tiny Hotrod….

I’m a carpenter/craftsman,
I love titebond III, and am no fan of gorilla.
Curious to hear your opinion after some experience.
 
I’m kinda surprised nobody has said it ain’t happening unless there’s pictures….. But those that know me know I’m not photo crazy. No cell phone or camera, just my old iPad. Besides, it’s nothing fancy or to write home about, just a tiny Hotrod. I’ll take a few shots after it’s done.
 
There are meticulously handcrafted bamboo Tenago micro fishing rods used in Japanese rice paddy irrigation ditches for tiny Bitterling.
"Originating over 200 years ago, it it is a highly respected, specialized, niche emphasizing patience, precision, and appreciating, rather than harvesting, fish... The ultimate trophy fish, is no larger than the size of a pinky nail or a 1-yen coin (roughly a penny)."

At one time there was a public video showing an angler building his tiny bamboo rod, carving and painting delicate carefully balanced balsa floats, making tiny hooks out of needles... but it is now private 😟 .
This may be as entertaining as watching golf on TV to y'all, but here is a fishing video.

but can you catch them with a fly?
 
Good question. Apparently tiny bits of of bait are used for Tenago. Keiryu (渓流, けいりゅう) or "mountain stream" fishing using up to 17' rods to reach larger fish in a similar manner in steep headwaters canyons typically use bait picked up from underneath rocks and 1 or 2 small split shot 8" to 12" above the hook. Here in the West weighted flies work very well with Keiryu (and Tenkara) rods.
These #30 & #32 hooks look pretty large for a pinky nail sized fish but might work, * but with my tired old eyes I won't be tying them, or tying them on 10X either!

Since it rained today I baked lemon ice box cookies with walnuts and macadamia nuts….turned out great! Just like my mom made when I was a kid, but I stepped it up with macadamia nuts. After that I wrapped the 2.50 with vintage green/white variegated tiger thread and dark green trim wraps. A couple coats of color preserve on, then Threadmaster tomorrow, lawn cast Friday and then slay some 2.50 stockers!

OO-Tay! I devirginized tiny today with 30 little stockers using a Cortland Sylk line and micro leeches! The n first fish was on my BTD nymph, around 12”+ and sure put a bend in tiny! I can hardly wait for some bigger fish to really put it through the test. First trip of the year in the pontoon, and if that wasn’t enough for a beautiful day in warm sunshine…..three young bucks gave Tom and me three bonus cold beers! And that wasn’t it….two guys in a 12’ aluminum boat started yelling at each other and started throwing punches! One knocked the other out of the boat, who immediately grabbed the side of the boat and flipped it over?! Still fighting and yelling, they lost all their gear….only.the electric motor survived. No PFD’s, luckily they didn’t drown. Cheap entertainment.
