Tiny Hotrod….

OO-Tay! I devirginized tiny today with 30 little stockers using a Cortland Sylk line and micro leeches! The n first fish was on my BTD nymph, around 12”+ and sure put a bend in tiny! I can hardly wait for some bigger fish to really put it through the test. First trip of the year in the pontoon, and if that wasn’t enough for a beautiful day in warm sunshine…..three young bucks gave Tom and me three bonus cold beers! And that wasn’t it….two guys in a 12’ aluminum boat started yelling at each other and started throwing punches! One knocked the other out of the boat, who immediately grabbed the side of the boat and flipped it over?! Still fighting and yelling, they lost all their gear….only.the electric motor survived. No PFD’s, luckily they didn’t drown. Cheap entertainment.

Hopefully, they left the lids off their bait containers.

Alrighty then….even a better day on a lake today! 29 hard fighting fish on tiny. Most in the 10”-13”plus two 18” holdovers!! The Hotrod bent and the Hardy flyweight screamed! The long thin points of the scarf are showing failure…..translucent under the wraps….lots of stress for such a short rod. I was hoping the clear Gorilla glue would be the ticket along with not using the gold nylon thread. I’m going to keep fishing/pushing tiny to see if the rest of the scarf holds up. It definitely handled those super hard fighters…..bring on some bigger fish! A couple of pictures to follow. The best fish of the day, was the first big boy….We saw a big bug fly by, land in the water and immediately got slammed by a big fish! A quick sight cast to the rings and bam!! Fish on! That one’s forever in the memory bank!

Another day with tiny….slower than the last time but still a beautiful sunny day to be on the water! 15 C&R’d with one nice holdover and one not so nice holdover breaking my fly off. I did get the slam with trout, bass, yellow perch and a few bluegills. There were a few big black flying ants so I tried one for a bit but nothing, not enough to make for a hatch, but tiny sure likes casting a dry fly better!
