The "How was your weekend?" thread...

The wife then tackled the staining, a nice natural cedar:

While I laid the planking on the other half:

The almost complete front deck:

Still some work to do, about 6 small planks running in the front right corner - run the steps the length of the front (that will have to wait until next summer), but we're pretty happy with it.
You are blessed to have such a great wife! Beautiful work!

Spent in rehab for legs in a plc next to homeless cam] and did not have help. Suffered a blood clot in right lung ASAP result. Back to the hospital. Now in Oregon City rehab, better than a less than par place.
Judy,

Sincerely hoping for a speedy and full recovery.

Saturday was grandson day - soccer match in the morning where they got their butts kicked. Sometimes I think their whole team isn't "morning people." Then off to watch his 5th grade choir sing at the City Hall tree lighting, after which we rushed to the gym for his 6:00 basketball game. Another blowout; they won 64 - 22. They'll get their comeuppance soon when they play the Oly Bears feeder A team in a week or two. The skill level of youth sports these days just blows me away. Other than being shorter, my grandson's basketball team is nearly as good as my 1-B league high school team was in the 1960s, and we were perennial state contenders. And then Sunday was my fly club's Christmas dinner party. Prime rib - yum! Mrs. Salmo and I didn't buy as many raffle tickets as usual, because, let's face it, how much more fishing stuff do I need or even want? Fun time visiting with friends and contemplating plans for the upcoming season. Gonna' take me all day to recover from the weekend.

Had my son help me build a hot tub pad the last two weekends and they moved the tub over today. Electrician should be here Friday or Monday. Still need decorative splash rock to match out front. Probably a gazebo shelter later. Been trying to get it done by Christmas for my wife (and me, its so nice after exercise).

More like how was my summer (no fishing))?

Essentially what we stared with, though you can see, I already sunk in the new footings and the wife an I had started demo on the rails:

Front stairs didn't even align with the front door (who designed this):

Our lumber yard:

Where we are now; still work to be done, finish the back deck, stairs, rail, more plantings, and finish the landscaping, etc, but we're liking what we've accomplished:

Looking good! I have never been very handy and always admire folks that build their own stuff.

That is a massive improvement! Good work.

Rolled 2 refresh stain coats today on the exterior south wall which takes the sun/snow beating.
Ceilings peaking at 17' inside = long ass extension handle outside

I admire your ambition , my previous house was all wood side although it was horizontal ,I stained it one time ,thats where my ambition stopped , having to have scaffolds ,ladders etc . When is was due again had it replaced with vinyl siding . Never like the house as well , had wished I stayed with the wood .
