The "How was your weekend?" thread...

OK, my turn.
Friday night while having an evening bourbon, I managed to flip an ice cube out of the glass an onto the floor beside my chair. Leaning over the arm of the chair (mission oak) as far as I could, the cube was just at my finger tips. Increased effort of perhaps a foot pound more pressure, I dislocated the lowest rib! HOLY SH*T. Major pain.

If that wasn't bad enough, went to a Garage Sale Saturday morning about 7:45 am. Tripped on something sticking out from under a table and did a "cartoon face plant" on the concrete floor. I went down fast and hard.
Cut my foot on whatever tripped me, Bounced my forehead of the deck splitting my eyebrow open and bloodied my nose. Wrenched my left shoulder socket, sprained my left wrist, and bashed my "already waiting for knee replacement" left knee!
🤬
WoW! Double Whammy, man - take care of yourself and I hope you heal quickly!

Hem- Can we see the juicy fly/lure that fish took?
I have a significant variety of pike flies. Many are probably created by a guy with a hard-on for creating the " next best thing". Nothing wrong with thoughtful creativity. But more and more, the simple fly works the same or better..
I have tried damn near every style and color combination on my pike water.
Tried some beautifully inspired creations.

Yeah, agreed, get better soon Judy!

I got the covids over the three day weekend, so, please, me and Judy are living vicariously through the rest of y'all, let's see some content, there's only so many times we can read about Dime Brite stalking heat-pump sized GTS!

2 weekends ago I did my 1st retaining wall, pads and stairs. It wasn't hard to do, but the results could have been better.
This weekend I will tear out a perfectly good ceiling because....... my wife. Lol.

I hear ya but there’s a reason why there are professionals in each industry… but it’s like painting your own house, you shouldn’t because you’ll always notice the imperfections but in reality it’s plenty good enough. Looks like good work from here !!

Not so much a weekend, more like a full summer/fall project (since I can only work weekends and have so many other ongoing projects). We rehabbed our front deck (about 12' x 45'):

The deck was that awful blue grey paint that seemed to be fashionable at one time (who would do that to nice wood), was all chipped and cracked:

Posts were in pretty rough shape, some not even meeting the ground - so replaced all of those.

Forgot to take photos of the new posts, so had to grab a couple today (excuse the snow):

Took up all the old planks, and given the price of lumber, turned them over and re-used what we could - many of the planks were in pretty good shape, and all the joists, rim board, and ledger board were in great shape, with no rot:

We added some joist tape just as an extra measure to prevent rot:

The wife sanded each and every plank we re-used, we laid a center framing plank and laid the restored planks, interspersed with some new:

The wife then tackled the staining, a nice natural cedar:

While I laid the planking on the other half:

The almost complete front deck:

Still some work to do, about 6 small planks running in the front right corner - run the steps the length of the front (that will have to wait until next summer), but we're pretty happy with it.

That looks great!
Looks great. Always turns out better than a contractor if you have the skills.
Thanks very much

Given what contractors are charging, it was a no brainer to do ourselves; plus that bit of satisfaction at the end of a day, seeing something tangible that you accomplished - not something I get on a daily basis sitting in front of a computer for for work.
