My genesis caught fire in the grease tray a couple weeks ago, flames about 5’ high coming out of it. Guess I need to clean it more often.I ordered new burner tubes and bars for my Weber Genesis grill, took it apart and cleaned it and replaced the decaying metal. It turned into a full half day job, but it's working like new again!

I took about 5 pounds of hardened grease, carbonized veggies, and debris off of the bottom![]()
The flames are what I was relying on for cleaning for years! My genesis caught fire in the grease tray a couple weeks ago, flames about 5’ high coming out of it. Guess I need to clean it more often.
Me too, I had a ‘brilliant’ if unanticipated blaze back in June in our Weber. Scraping/brushing out the cinders was way easier than the gooey muck post inferno. The flames are what I was relying on for cleaning for years!
Zak, did you go with real Weber parts or generic brand stuff? I have overhauled my Weber Spirit twice now. First with real Weber stuff, second with aftermarket. There is a difference. The aftermarket stuff is working just fine but I could tell putting it together that it's just not the same quality. Given that the grill overhaul job does always take about 2 hours longer than I hope it will take, it seems worth it to pony up for the Weber parts. One good thing about Weber is that they tend to support their products with parts for a good long while; hopefully they keep doing that for the slightly older products like my Spirit.Enjoying my newly clean grill with even heat from end to end. The old burner tubes were flaring near the front on the grill. Now I need to relearn all the hotspots!
My dad gave me this pre-2016 Genesis S-330 when he got too old to play with fire. I don't have any of the product documentation, so I called up Weber to ask which parts were correct. I was immediately connected to a real person who had all the answers!Zak, did you go with real Weber parts or generic brand stuff? I have overhauled my Weber Spirit twice now. Seems like a smart value shop. I noticed the bars looked extra extra shiny. Not for long probably! My dad gave me this pre-2016 Genesis S-330 when he got too old to play with fire. I bought the burner tubes direct from Weber, but Weber wanted nearly $70 for the bent sheet metal flavorizer bars, so I bought those (in stainless steel) aftermarket.
Fished here. Fish were caught. Fish were lost. Flies were lost. Fun was had.View attachment 123760

Cleaning them is key . My Genesis Silver is 24 years old . Recently replaced the grates , burners are still okay , as well as the flavorizer bars .I ordered new burner tubes and bars for my Weber Genesis grill, took it apart and cleaned it and replaced the decaying metal. It turned into a full half day job, but it's working like new again!

I am impressed; 4 hours is a long session of dock fishing. How did she do on the catching? What sorts of baits does she like to toss?I took my granddaughter out to the lake, she said she had to go fishing and she didn't care where. So we drove from Puyallup to Shelton. She fished about 4 hours off our dock.

I ask partly because my kids are similar age and I wonder if they might enjoy the same types of fishing. I certainly can’t get anywhere near 4 hours out of them…yet.
