The Aleutians

Left Anchorage this morning from Merrill Field for Lava Creek Lodge

I was under the aleutian the the islands were very mountainous, where you were appears to be very flat, very interesting.

Great trip and thanks for bringing us along!!

There are a few mountain ranges and volcanos in the distance…but we are not far from the Bering Sea here

Went back to a different section of Lava creek to trout fish again…it’s hard in this world to find an entire river without another soul fishing it…trout here are few and far apart…but they are all hogs. Put three in the net all the same size

Caught a bunch of dollies…

I was trying to figure out what this bear was doing…that entire bank was very high, but where I was standing it was low…

The Aleutians are mountainous. This area is not the Aleutians but rather the Alaska Peninsula. The north (Bristol Bay) side of the peninsula is low relief.

The Aleutians start at Umnak Island a couple hundred miles or so to the west at the end of the peninsula.

I was trying to figure out what this bear was doing…that entire bank was very high, but where I was standing it was low…

Could have been trying to climb out after swimming across? Or maybe digging for a small animal or specific minerals, like salt ?
