awesome win, guttiest win of the season by any team, highlight reel defensive plays, a back-up QB who played out of his mind, a just signed receiver having a career best, back-ups and rookies fighting like mad dogs to beat a team that should have walked all over them.
Niners now 3-0 in division with half of their skill players out of the mix..if they can get and stay healthy, they will be in the mix at the end.

Good to see Jones play well. I always liked the kid. He is smart and can run an NFL offense. It's a shame what happened to him in New England.
A teams offensive coordinator is so very important. This is especially true of young ones. Look at how well Maye is doing with McDaniels and how well Jones did with him. Give either one Alex Van Pelt or Matt Patricia and you doom them. Look at the history of NY Jets QB's.

Every time you change coaches and styles, you need to adjust the roster to fit the OC. It takes time and in that time you kill a QB, or at least drive them into a Jim Plunkett style sebatical to be possibly resurected later by a stable franchise (See Geno Smith and Sam Darnold). Mac Jones has fallen into a perfect situation with a stable franchise and stable ofensive coaching. Even with the injuries, the 9er roster fits the scheme. In NE they tried to run a Shannahan style offense with big linemen and inexperienced coaches. It failed in fabulous fashion. Jones really fits the Shannahan offense. He has good feet (tennis player), gets the ball out on time, is acccurate and adept at getting them into the right play, or at least out of bad plays. After that, the offense dows not require a ton of the QB. It's a lot simpler than the McDaniels/ Erhardt system that he thrived in.
Jones would be be fine in LA too. McVay can really coach and Sneed et al. are excellent at roster construction. It all matches there. Well run franchise.
Send Jones or Purdy or even Stafford to the Jets, Bears, Browns etc. and they'll look like the failures that Jones did in NE and Jacksonville under bad coaching and disjointed rosters.

I may have picked the wrong weekend to re-up my NFL package.....Donkeys...
well, I'll give you that he has had a couple of errant throws, but on that first drive, he had 2 complete drops that were right through the hands of rec....I'm not gonna call that a sophomore slump at this point. Plus, on the last drive Hufanga (sp?) completely dropped what should have been a pick 6....shoulda woulda coulda, I know.Tough day for ya...
