I saw a post last week showing how to do wings using a feather (dark feathers from a junglecock cape) pressed onto cello tape, then trimmed to shape. I experimented and found it quite easy to do. I decided to try imitating a caddis fly...my first attempt, with a few ideas of my own. I wanted to keep it looking natural, so didn't overdo the front hackle, instead I tied a foam strip to sit under the wing...a little lifejacket to help keep it afloat. We'll see what the trout think of it.
