Sub $100 3 wt reel?

I have a lamson remix and love it. It's my favorite.
I have an echo ion also, it's ok. I'd take the remix over it any day though.
Yeah, I've used both and the Remix is WAY nicer IMO. I think the cast Liquid is better than the Ion as well. I got the 7/8 Liquid for $69 off Sierra which is just a ridiculous deal. I don't quite get why there is so much surplus. Either too much production or not enough sales. And if not enough sales, maybe bad marketing? Or bad deals? I know Redington has them beat on advertising by a long shot. The Farbank pockets are much deeper than Waterworks.

I think a lot of people buying at the lower end go for Redington or Echo rather than Waterworks-Lamson because of the shop availability and marketing. And it's decent stuff.

IMO, the Lamsons run circles around most of the sub $200 Redington & Echo stuff. And I love my older Redington 5/6 Rise and my 7/8 CDL. The Rise is probably my favorite 4-6 wt reel ever. The CDL is nice, but really heavy. Like truck rotor heavy. Haha! I like it though! So many reels and so little time. :D

Sub-$100 reels are more or less equal, IMO. They all hold line great, and they all have lousy drag systems. The good news is that on your 3-wt., your reel is essentially a line holder. As long as it cranks in the line at the end of the day, it's plenty good. If you plan to catch lots of big fish on your 3-wt., you may want to spend the money to get a serviceable drag....

I'll have to remember that site. Pretty sure I paid more for my remix than what they have it listed for. All their stuff seems way cheap. But at a local fly shop, so expected I guess.
I've never liked the look of Redington, I'm vain I guess. So haven't tried any of their stuff.
I'll stand by echo's rods though, own 3 of them. At my (shitty) level, it makes it harder to justify a move expensive one.

Ok, sorry for pirating thread kinda

For a few dollars more, you could have a sweet Danielsson Original. If you don't wanna pay the shipping for just one reel I'm sure you could ahem, find someone who wants to order several items.... 😆

Is this offer open to anyone?!?!
Hehe

So many reels and so little time. :D
Yep, I am a sucker for reels, can’t have enough when I see a cool one. More than rods even.

Since a light line relel like a 3wt is just a place to hold line it makes no sense to spend a lot of money on one. Here is a link to a reel that I bought in 5wt for my son. It is perfectly servicable and comes pre-loaded with line & backing.

Anyone have preferences on sub $100 reels? This is for a 3 wt so don't need to stop a truck. Unfortunately I kinda hate clickers but I've resided to the fact that's what I'll be looking at if I want it to be under $100?

Are the modern Pfluegers any decent?

Here's a option: Amazon product ASIN B072QVYKKD
$38 to your door.

I wanted a large arbor for lake fishing and figured for the price I couldn't go wrong. Seems like a darn good reel for the money. Extra spools may not be available.

I actually suspect this and another chinese CNC factory are the manufacturers of the hundred-dollar private-label reels that some big fly shops put their name on.

Since drag is a non-issue...look at Maxcatch or Picifun...I have both on rods up to 6wt...7wt or higher gets a better drag, naturally

I realize I'm late to the party, but I won an Echo Base as part of a raffle. I finally got it out yesterday, and it is a perfectly acceptable line holder with an adjustable drag. I'm getting to the point where my clickers drive me crazy, especially out on a nice quiet lake. I may just get a brace of these for routine trout fishing.

I've got a couple Okuma SLV fly reels on 4 wts and 5wt and have never had a problem.
I have these SLVs with extra spools for saltwater use, because I won't care if my $60 reel corrodes over time.
