Yes, we all had a good time! You ought to plan it for a Saturday or a Sunday. On some skinny water that all can agree on. I used to do these on Skinny water. Brown bag it for lunch. Worked out fine. Lunch usually lasted until the beer ran out or you needed a nap. Really effective in the summer time.
Did you all have a good time ??
Where's the pictures at. Are they hiding someplace else ?
Thank you.Page 7 of this thread starting at post #136
Yes, i think that is a good idea. I didn’t get to sit over at your table to say hi until you left. But mixing it up would be great too.Next time let’s push the tables together so we can all bs! My thought and energy went away after a few beers.....
Oh funny, i wish i still had the photo. My friend sent me a photo of a framed print of Santa fly fishing and his elves and asked me if i wanted it. I said no, then thought about maybe yes and i could give it away as a kind of ‘white elephant’ gift if we had come up with some kind of quick game. But then i thought folks would think it was dorky and i was already worried about the name tags though i think they actually were necessary! At least for me.Yup. Good time in good company. Would definitely do it again. Thanks to everyone who came out!
For sure, it's hard to avoid spending most of the time talking to those nearest you, but that's not necessarily bad! You can harvest a lot of great information from a willing conversant in 3 hours, especially after the beer kicks in a little. The downside is that you miss out on all the great stuff everyone else in the room has to offer. I guess we'll just have to have more of these things....
Idea for future? Have everyone bring a themed fly (tied or purchased), and play some sort of quick game, winner take all. Maybe see who can match the most flies to the people who brought them in a silent auction-like format or something?
And YOU need to get in the picture.Oh funny, i wish i still had the photo. My friend sent me a photo of a framed print of Santa fly fishing and his elves and asked me if i wanted it. Next time we should be sure to get a group shot!
Thanks y’all for appreciating the organizing, but it really wasn’t that difficult. Y‘all made it easy by communicating!!!
It was easier to talk across the tables at Farelli’s, but we also had only 7 people that night. I think doing this in warmer weather and being outside could help too. I thought of it a couple of times in the summer but also figured lots of folks fishing too.And YOU need to get in the picture.
The name tags were a good idea. At my age and even before, I almost never remember the name of someone I am introduced to for the first time. Need to hear it a second time....lol.
Regarding putting the tables together. A good idea. It was nice to have that room to ourselves, but it was also not very conducive to circulating. It would be nice to have the room to be able to stand and mingle around a table, besides sitting. Though less people and we didn't do it, I think when we were at Farelli's, the set up was more conducive to mingling. I could be way off base too. I don't know, but maybe being outside could help.
I know I could have mingled more, but I was being lazy.
I have never done a poll, but I will learnIt was easier to talk across the tables at Farelli’s, but we also had only 7 people that night. I think doing this in warmer weather and being outside could help too. I thought of it a couple of times in the summer but also figured lots of folks fishing too.
Maybe next time we set up a poll? I think you said you know how to do that, right Bruce?
Thanks for sharing the photographs, nice to put a face to members.Sorry to miss you Nathan, but totally understandable!
These are not great photos because i took them quickly because i didn’t want to interrupt conversation. (Which is also why I didn’t organize a group shot.)
I think i have the names right, but someone might need to correct me.

It was a nice turn out and took awhile for me to connect names to PNW posts though I recognized Steve K immediately i never realized he was bambooflyguy even though he does have a photo in his profile photo.
HA! I’ve said this before i do wish folks used a different profile photo instead of a fish cause it would be easier for me to keep folks straight! I got to talk to most of you which was great but I’m sure I’ll still get all mixed up again if we do this another time.
