Show Us Your Humpies !!!

Has anyone in a boat noticed that humpies like to make 3 turns around the boat before they allow you to land them ?
Of 50 plus this week I don't think a single one made a lap around our whaler. We fish with our drags set to kill and most of them came on gear rods so take that for what little it's worth

Shore fished a popular MA9 beach on Thursday 8/21 for a few hours, looking for pinks, with not much to show for the effort, but at the end of my time there, I had a hard strike, and I thought that maybe I had foul-hooked a pink as the fish pulled harder than the usual pink. Here is what it turned out to be:

It took my small chartreuse krill pattern that you can see in my hook keeper. The flesh was a deep reddish-orange color:

Even though I didn't hook any pinks, my intended target, this 6.5 pound hatchery Coho was a nice surprise and a good way to end my day. I'd rather hook a Coho than a pink anytime.

There were 3 other spey casters and 1 other single-handed caster out there while I was fishing. I saw the single-handed caster have one pink on, and I think one of the spey casters had one Coho on just before I hooked mine, but otherwise it was very slow fishing. There were pinks out there, but way beyond casting distance. There were lots of gear anglers out there too, but I only saw or heard of 3 pinks being caught by those guys. Seems like the pinks should be closer in to shore, but for some reason they are staying out in deep water.

Took the paddleboard off the local beach this morning. Lost the first 3 since fly fishing off this thing is sort of a mess. One fish came off when it missed the net and bounced off the board. But managed to land this one before calling it a morning.

Eewww gross. Why did you have to just Rick Roll a perfectly good humpy thread with a silly little lab grown wussy silver salmon?

Respect the Humpy,
😁

Not workin' but not fishin'. No humpies over here. Too windy and cloudy for carp. Too warm for trout.

I've really been enjoying all the forum members posting salmon fishing pics. A week from tomorrow I hope to find a fish or two in the salt. What's it Tahuya!?

What are y’all doin’?
Fishing for Humpies vicariously, which is the only way I fish anymore. On the plus side, no slime . . . ;)

Thanks for the opportunity!

I like the Metal Child you strapped in the front seat. And the framing in photo one!

Walk us through the decision tree of "are there are enough bunjies on Metal Child?"

Seems like one Jim F or one Buzzy could be similarly strapped in the front seat. :D 🎣
Metal Child is Single Pilot Ballast.
Decision tree was pretty simple. "One more strap oughta do it." Then repeat. "Ooh look, I found some more straps. Couple more oughta help."
It would be an honor and privilege to have Jim F and/or Buzzy coo lullabies to my sweet sweet Metal Child one day.

Metal Child would make a good album name.
