Gierach was a joy to be around. You'll find very few pictures of John holding a big fish although he landed his share. The man had nothing to prove. He just loved what he was doing, a life well lived.

It's bittersweet that Gierach's last book published in 2023 was All the Time in The World. We don't have all the time in the world, so make time for the things and people you enjoy.

Dug out my tattered old copy of Trout Bum last night and reread a good portion. It was like a journey into Mr Peabodys wonderful wayback machine. Brought back a lot of great memories.
