Rocks

The single stone is my ring, the other was Mom's everyday ring until she passed. We dug these, couple trips early '70's, in Montana and our Uncle cut and set them. My job was plucking stones from the hematite, just the right eye and mentality for it.

Came across this literature cleaning out the desk. God those were long hot car rides. East of Vantage was always miserable as only grandpa's Buick had AC. Did lots of other good camping on those trips too.

Reminds me of our family trips in the 60’s.
North Carolina for ruby’s and sapphire’s.
Arkansas for diamonds.
As an 8 year old it wasn’t my thing.

I was into it. Guess we started early collecting agates and glass at the beach house on Jefferson Head. Most trips involved rocks somewhere along the line.
At that age I was really into fishing also however, and I remember standing in the river screening rocks and dreaming of casting instead.

Ours was different. A once a year 2 week vacation.
Either for gemstones or historical sites. For me, American history always took precedence. My father was never a fisherman so…

Who else is ready to geek out?!?! Over 10,000 new borehole and well log entries!

Some agate finds from the river last week. Almost didn't pick up the gnarly one but the color caught my eye. Not sure the smaller one qualifies as a true agate but thinking this will polish really well.
