Rock Island Lake Fishing Camp BC

I was just reading Chapter 7., "Favorite Waters" in Steve Raymond's epic book. If it rains while you're up there with the homies; take your jeep. "accessible by a rough road that can be nasty in wet weather". ;-) Looking forward to hearing about your trip and seeing pictures.

Counting the days till I get to head north with my homies @Irafly, @troutpocket and @Yardus! Anyone ever fish this camp? We fished nearby at Meadow two years ago so we have a feel for the area but always open to advice!

Can't freaking wait!

PNW member Ron McNeal had a good experience at Rock Island Camp earlier this summer. You should reach out to him.

Much more rustic compared to MLFC. Road in about like MLFC used to be. Great food. We only fished Rock Island Lake. Most here know who Don Simonson is & the just fact that Don was a regular there for some 40+ years says volumes more than I could ever add after just three days ...... We caught lots of bows up to about 12/13" (which we were encouraged to "bonk"), but nothing larger. As I understand it, you need to head N (drive & hike in) to fish Moose if you're after larger fish. Great local owners, and cooks, (James & Jeannie) w/ lots of local intel/lore. FWIW, we stopped at MLFC "on the way out" to meet the new (YOUNG) mgmt. - husband & wife, Rob & Tammy, and, based on our short visit, I'd expect them to be successful. I did notice that they now have a minimum stay policy....... I'm returning to Rock Island Lake in Sept. This info based on really pretty crappy weather. I'm sure, had we had better weather, we'd have gotten in to more of RILFC's lakes. (Tell Ira his presentation to the Puget Sound Fly Fishers this past June was really appreciated. He gave a first-class presentation that was packed with useful info - in spite of "technical difficulties" beyond his control.)
