River Coho Thread 2024

Got a couple fire truck coho today while slummin’ chummin’ with light jigs/heavy flies.

And this real nice cutt, too! Was a great take. Maybe a PB cutt? I didn’t measure it. Guessing 19” maybe 19.5” 😁

A purple bodied blue tailed number like his final example, currently embedded in a Skagit log jam. Fished with herky jerky strips along, uhhhh... log jams.
How was water clarity when you got off the water today?

Disregard….I’ll go find out.

Glad you had a good time 👍

Go find out! A little dirty yesterday, especially below the sauk. I made a bunch of new friends when I unknowingly left my truck in the middle of the baker river launch. Turns out the kayak launch is actually a boat launch, like for boats! Having a pickup in the middle of said launch is suboptimal for launching (or landing) of boats is what my new friends wanted to impress upon me.

Luckily they made their point with a couple dozen beer cans and twitching jig packages instead of a slashed tire 😅😅😅

That’s good work and encouraging (and Josh L is my neighbor) but it’s been known for a while that running polluted runoff through soil is effective for removing 6ppd-q. It means a whole lot of retrofits are needed. In some cases, expensive retrofits. Or, the tire manufacturers could go ahead and stop using a substance that is known to be an absurdly potent toxin (or its precursor) in their formulas. That’d be nice.
