@jasmillo and I took a big chance on a remote lake today, a long drive plus a short hike in hope of some decent fishing.
Our little gamble paid off, fishing was excellent, and the fish weren’t dinks either. The cutthroat here are some of the most perfect, healthy, hard fighting high jumping fish I’ve ever seen. Each one of them was flawless, plump and vibrant in colors.
Even got to try Jason’s little glass rod fishing emerger a bit, hooked two and landed one. Glass rods are something else, very interesting.
Stopped by the shore to take a leak and I inadvertently slipped the life vest into the water, the damn thing popped like an air bag. Startled me a bit mid stream, never owned one of these type before so I totally forgot about the immersion trigger, well that worked well
Super fun morning, so many fish and surrounded by the woods, you can only hear birds working the midge hatch. This is going to be a yearly thing now for sure.
