Only saw him/Black Sabbath (with Bill Ward!) once, at Ozzfest in 2005. What a legacy! Countless bands including mine were/are heavily inspired by the sound he and his crew created.

In the pantheon of Definitive First Songs, “Black Sabbath” Black Sabbath Black Sabbath is probably the pinnacle. I’m glad Ozzy decided to quit his career as a burglar and focus on rock vocals.

As a life long metal fan, Ozzy impacted my life greatly. Saw him/Sabbath four or five times. Such a legend.

Truly one of the most influential artists to ever walk the earth. Iconic voice, and overall character as well.


What a legacy to leave behind. Truly. Not sure anyone could ever ask for anything more from a life well lived.

My old band Metalmücil used to do Fire on the Mountain into Sweet Leaf. Covered most of the bases. And this particular version was indeed recorded during a party in a garage.
