NFR RIP In Peace Cybertruck

It's not just the CT, I've seen rumors that their semi is also on the chopping block. Which is a shame because it actually seemed like it was working out.

@Evan B , I disagree about the CT failure being studied in a higher learning environment, unless it's a lesson in how not to do things, and then only as a footnote.
Right now it shares the status of other oddball vehicles in automotive history, such as the,Tucker, the Cord 810 and 812, the Chrysler AirFlow, and the Stout Scarab (widely believed to be the 1st real mini van)

I agree , just another vehicle in a long list that was not real received . No worse than so many others . You can choose any of the many ,and rag on them also , but who really cares . As said don't have to buy them .

I don't hate the cyber truck either. I just think it's ugly. If the design concept of "form follows function" was used, then Tesla designed a space age flower planter for front yards strewn with what we used to call "Detroit lawn art."

"Hate" is not the right word for my position. I used it for dramatic effect. "Befuddlement" is likely a better descriptor for me. I find the whole situation fascinating and really find it amusing that something like this went beyond the concept stage. In some ways I like that a concept vehicle finally got pushed to market, I just wish it was closer to what was initially announced vs what actually delivered.

And no, my feelings didn't materialize out of nowhere. I was once on the list:

Once it was clear what the reality of this vehicle was, I couldn't and still can't come up with a single reason to pay that kind of money and pick this over a real truck. If there's a compelling need to have an EV truck, then an F150 Lightning or Silverado EV seem to be stronger picks if you actually need to do anything truck-related.

To make a vehicle of this size, and remove a lot of the nuances that make a truck into a useful tool beyond simple transportation is just a bizarre case study to me. I think the whole CT thing will be studied in various high-level education classes going forward.

If Tesla had just built on one of their existing platforms and made a smaller/mid sized truck that way, they would have printed money.
I don't know what Elon and Tesla were thinking when this concept truck came up before production but despite its failure commercially, I think EV truck manufacturers may have learned a lot (what not to do?) from this exercise. We have a forum member who bought one, he gave me a ride in it one day. The thrust when he "stomped on it" was truly impressive. As a pickup? My short box Ram hauls more and is almost as ugly. ;-) I can't imagine MP getting the truck serviced but then my last outboard motor was an Edsel, I mean Evinrude.

Can't have a cybertruck unless you design & patent the cybertires that can haul all that battery weight for >60K miles

We called them cardens in Vermont.

its really nor a truck. have seen a good amount in the pnw, and never have seen anything in the 'truck' bed.

'Tesla' wasn't thinking anything but simply saying 'great idea!', as they must to a guy who surrounds himself with sycophants.
