Woke up this morning to snow on the hills above Lake Roosevelt this May morning.
I LIKE SNOWPACK, and share the concern. Are these the conditions to watch now?
So far family & friends in Prescott, & Yuma with its "senior" water rights are not under local agricultural and municipal water restrictions, but both have had annual conservation policies in place for many years.
We are running close to normal precip this current water year (since Oct 1) around Lincoln City on the Oregon Coast. This last little shot of left 1.43" in the bucket and was the first measurable rain for the month. The two medium range forecast models (GFS and Euro) are not at all in agreement for the remainder of the month - at least for the last few model runs. The GFS looks painfully dry while the ECMWF is forecasting an end to the Eastern Pacific high pressure dominance and an active pattern beginning next week. We will see which one verifies...
Second driest since 1929. Not great news after the big Bear Gulch fire up there last year.

If you call long range forecasting "Critical thinking". When the local paper, youtubers and DOE, state the sky is falling the 1st of April before the rains are complete, there needs to be some criticism of the accuracy of the reporting. I don't put too much faith in the science of long range forecasting. A crap shoot at best. Especially here in the PNW. In western WA, we still could have a gloomy June. The 4th of July pyro's, irresponsible campers and the fires that result, are the ones who need to be reeled in.
