Rain

Looks like we might get some thunder and lightning action this afternoon. Some cells already popping up in the south sound.
Lawn is mowed….bring it. 😉

Lovely day out here...
As in, just about right

Soon it will be 80, and too hot.

Could use a breeze though...

Tomorrow will be 2 minutes 39 seconds longer...more to enjoy.
🙂

Nice cool breeze with a few sprinkles on my waterfront walk this afternoon. Now it cleared up and is hot. 🥵🤮

Clouds filtering in out here

You'll get your rain in a while

Few days of showers and cooler temps

But for now, you'd best stay in the bunker.

🙂

We have .44" so far at our place near Lincoln City - it's our first measurable rainfall for the month of May. This morning's 16 day forecast models (out to 28 May) aren't exactly bullish on wet - between .90" and 1.50" for the period.

I LIKE SNOWPACK, and share the concern. Are these the conditions to watch now?

So far family & friends in Prescott, & Yuma with its "senior" water rights are not under local agricultural and municipal water restrictions, but both have had annual conservation policies in place for many years.

We are running close to normal precip this current water year (since Oct 1) around Lincoln City on the Oregon Coast. This last little shot of left 1.43" in the bucket and was the first measurable rain for the month. The two medium range forecast models (GFS and Euro) are not at all in agreement for the remainder of the month - at least for the last few model runs. The GFS looks painfully dry while the ECMWF is forecasting an end to the Eastern Pacific high pressure dominance and an active pattern beginning next week. We will see which one verifies...

Second driest since 1929. Not great news after the big Bear Gulch fire up there last year.

... but wait, isn't there a local weather blogger who many seem to put stock in who said all was OK in early May because the reservoirs were at normal levels ...

I know many in this site saw beyond this bit of wisdom; good on those who use a little critical thinking!!!

The Heaviest Precipitation of the Year Ahead in Some Locations?

..."At some locations in northwest Washington and southeast BC, June is clearly the wettest month"

...The total through Wednesday morning is substantial in the west, and much of eastern Washington gets moistened.

"Another low-pressure trough will move in later in the week, with the accumulated precipitation total through Sunday at 5 PM shown below. Very, very substantial amounts in eastern Washington and Oregon. Less irrigation will be needed next week."

We shall see...

And BTW, I'm hoping he's right.

If you call long range forecasting "Critical thinking". When the local paper, youtubers and DOE, state the sky is falling the 1st of April before the rains are complete, there needs to be some criticism of the accuracy of the reporting. I don't put too much faith in the science of long range forecasting. A crap shoot at best. Especially here in the PNW. In western WA, we still could have a gloomy June. The 4th of July pyro's, irresponsible campers and the fires that result, are the ones who need to be reeled in.
