Rain

Nice day today. Perfect actually.
Hopefully we have a few more like it to keep things nice and green.

That is a lot of rain. I know you’re new to that area, but is May generally a wet time of year for that area or just exceptionally wet this year?

There are probably some sad trout fisher people in your area this month with the streams being blown for one of the best hatch months.

Around here it’s been darn dry. Only about 3/4” of rain this May, where it’s normally closer to 2”.

From what I have been told, April showers have now extended into May as well, very wet compared with normal, but don't think any records yet.

@Stonedfish, to further answer your question, average rainfall for May is 4.3 inches. The wettest month is actually September, with an average of 5.4 inches, but that tends to come in a few single-event rainfalls from the tail end of hurricanes that make their way here. So, yeah, this has been a pretty wet May compared with normal.

It has now reached 61⁰, and @Stonedfish has retreated into his solar proof basement bunker.

Adding my 2 cents on this; local creeks and streams have been just under flood stage off and on for most of the month. Here in the center mountains, it's been pretty heavy. Since last Wed. we've gotten an additional 3.4 inches, not including what fell today.

Penns Creek finally greened up for just 2 days before going back to imitating the Puyallup in color. Flows are currently around 800 -1100 cfs, normal is around 450. More predicted rain starting Friday through to Monday.

This isn't the weather patterns I remember as a kid.

Damn, not even June yet and parts of the US are already getting wildfire smoke from up north. I hope we can get through this summer without experiencing it again this in the PNW.
