Rain

Brian - here's another tool I use for tracking down the automated weather stations: Weather and Hazards Data Viewer You can zoom in the map to find current weather - there are literally 1000's of stations easily accessible using this tool. We use it a lot storm chasing in the Plains. There are also layers that can be added to the map that can be useful as well.

We are north of 15" so far for December at our place just outside of Lincoln City on the Oregon Coast. With 12.7" being "normal" for the month, we've been "sorta wet" but not "excessively wet"... yet.

After tomorrow 10 days of no rain...

There is a God...

With these cold temps, I am glad it is not 'raining ' right now... No white Brrrrr for me.

I'm ready for it to start raining again... Here's the overnight 06Z GFS total precipitation accumulation forecast through Feb 8. For now, this forecast is more the outlier as long range forecasts are still trending towards dry.

Sure would like some rain before the end of the month. Rivers are very low and clear.
According to my logs a couple are quite fishable. I've had a bunch of commitments this week but looking fwd to getting out before they rise again.

Oh there definitely are spots where they're stacking up or concentrated, but some of my favorite spots seem to do best when we get a little water and color going, and they close next week.

Anyone else notice that NWS has not updated any information on their website since the 24th?

Got out with a buddy on Monday to a location I haven't fished since 2021 and was hopeful to encounter some fish again. Water was already too low and saw no fish. After querying my buddy who fishes that stream often and rechecking my own historical notes, I have significantly raised the CFS custom fishabie levels indicators in my USGS Current Levels apps for that stream.

Going to try another much more familiar location today that I have the Spring-Fall predictive CFS levels pretty well dialed in. I can safely wade and *do find* & catch fish at the current CFS level.

The Meteorologists said the "S" word for Friday, saying iffy.
Around here on Friday temp will rise to a low of 37°. But Saturday, low temp will drop to 31° with an 80% chance of precip. High of 45° though but may see some morning flakes. Overnight to Sunday could get more.
